She Is Free

 {via Obakki}

The Obakki S/S 2011 collection reflects everything I want in this moment.  Warm weather withdrawals are in full effect here in frigid Kentucky, and I am sick and tired of the manner in which it is limiting my wardrobe.  One of my four year olds in preschool asked me why I wear boots every day....it was so depressing {she was wearing a Dora the Explorer outfit, not gonna lie, I was jealous}.  This wildflower needs flirty fabrics, cotton dresses, the grass between my toes, and the sun on my back!  That video slays me, I can't quite come to grips with the fact that I am not her in this very moment.  Anyone have any tips to beat the winter blues?  Suggestions welcomed and encouraged!

On Pointe

{via Vogue Russia February 2011}

I am of the opinion that if all fashion designers based their collections around ballet, theatre, or music, everything would just be prettier.  The ballerinas are getting A LOT of love right now from the fashion world, and rightfully so, as ballet is one of the most fashion conscious art forms out there.  The fashion world and the ballet world have so much in common that this seems like such a fluid, natural pairing.  Both are incredibly body conscious, requiring models and dancers alike to manipulate their bodies to portray a specific message.  Copious amounts of chiffon and satin, delicate details, these ballet inspired pieces are basically my bread and butter, so I am reveling in this editorial from Vogue Russia.  And with valentine's day approaching, these sweet silhouettes and fragile fabrics will cater perfectly to our sweetheart inspired outfits!

Let's Lighten Up

{via fashiongonerogue, french frosting, little plastic horses}

A completely random compilation of fashion photos to serve as a friendly reminder to smile.  Because fashion should be fun.  Because we shouldn't have to stress about what season we're wearing.  Because we don't have to be chronic Man Repellers to be taken seriously in the fashion world.  Because I am sick and tired of being scorned for showing some sex appeal, and because there is nothing, NOTHING sexier than a low-cut back, {am I right ladies, or am I right?}.
*Sigh*
Thanks for letting me vent, now let's try to not take ourselves so seriously.  This is about fun!

Well Hello There, Dapper!

{via streetfsn, stockholm streetstyle, tommy ton for GQ}

Milan Men's Fashion week kicked off on Saturday, so there truly is no better time for us to turn our focus to the boggling world of menswear.  I am a self-proclaimed menswear dork, so I am absolutely loving the street-style shots that are cropping up all over the interwebs!  The examples above are such a celebration of proper tailoring and attention to detail, both which completely transform an outfit.  I feel as if the vast majority of mens clothing sold in the U.S. is completely oversized, and as a result our poor guys have completely lost sense of what fits!  So boys, take a cue from the dapper men above and take some fashion risks, I promise it will pay off!

These Are Just Ghosts

{via kissssing, nineteen candles, electric raspberry, weheartit}

 Have you all heard of kissssing?  It is a fantastic blog dedicated to the hopeless romantics {who me? naaahhh}, and you should absolutely check it out.  These images make me happy even when I feel a bit down, so head on over if you need a bit of a pick me up!  This little video struck me to my very core, I love almost every part of it, how not everything can be sugary sweet.  Cee Lo's Band of Horses cover is perfect.  Oh, and smooshed french macaroons, I miss those so much!  And remember dolls, love hard when there is love to be had!

Home Is Wherever I'm With You

I'm so sorry, I'm usually not one to post two videos in a row, especially since this is supposed to be a FASHION blog {gosh Rachel, clean up your act!}, but this just struck my heart and I knew I had to share it!  I wake up every morning to this song, so much love.  I promise to give you all an outfit post tomorrow.

Glorious Visions

{via weheartit}
This is so incredibly worth watching the entire way through.  I promise to never, ever post videos that aren't worth your time, loves!  It gets really good at around the 2:45 mark.  Enjoy, and may this set the tone for the rest of your day, dolls!

Peggy-O

{Ann Taylor top, J. Crew skirt, Bloch point shoes, vintage ring and lavalier}

Ok, don't make fun of me but....HOW COOL IS THIS?!  I know, I know, I totally look like a super tech savvy photo person {mwahaha, looks like I have you fooled}.  Try not to absolutely keel over laughing at my overly dramatic "oh my lawdy I do believe I may faint" pose, but I kind of think it's working for me. The look is inspired by a photo of my best friend's grandmother, who was absolutely doing the high midriff justice in the 1940s {a look that can also be found over here}.  I truly hope everyone has a wonderful new year!

Here's to a new year and another chance for us to get it right.
