Yuppie Puppy

Yup, that's right, my dog is incredibly fashionable as well.  Let it be known that I am not one of those people who dresses up their dog, that's just demeaning.  Duncan did this himself, upon his own free will...I fear he wants to be a yuppie.  I wanted to post pictures from an outfit shoot today, but I am sick and would much rather sit on the couch in my fuzzy socks, popping advil and drinking yummy tea.  So I hope Duncan can provide you with some inspiration to tide you over!  Oh and just so you know, his sweater is J.Crew.

I'm Looking Through You

Blouse: Ann Taylor
Studded Cutoffs: DIY
Clogs: Born
Sunnies: Target
Photos by Miranda Myers
I wore this outfit yesterday while shopping with my girls!  I was so proud of myself because I actually remembered to wear an outfit that was super easy to throw on and off in a changing room.  I tend to always forget this and wear something ridiculous. like tights, which inevitably leads to me falling down very loudly in the dressing room!  This is such a simple ensemble, and my first attempt at the sheer look, as well as the online debut of my studded pocket shorts from my previous DIY post.
Miranda is home for the week dog-sitting for her parents, so expect to see a few more outfit posts!
I hope everyone has a wonderful day, and as always, remember to follow me on Bloglovin' here!

Interior Design Porn

(via we heart it)
Here is some serious interior design bedroom porn to brighten up your day and to get the creative juices flowing!  Hopefully within the next year I will be moving out on my own, and I can't wait to decorate!  I have a serious penchant for raw, earthy elements combined with girly accents, cozy spaces, and elegantly done canopies that don't look tacky.  Oh, and also *twinkle lights*!
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day!  I am about to go to job #2 today, and then out for some yummy Indian food with the fam.  Hopefully I will have time for an outfit post soon, this week has been crazy!
Truly yours,
Rachel

Halloween

(via LIFE, jalouse, and tumblr)
So it's about that time of year again, time for me to start considering my halloween costume.  No really, I get so excited about my yearly costume that around mid-summer I start brainstorming.  Above are some of my ideas!  First, we have these awesome Hell's Angels girlfriends with their amazing hair dos, post nose job bandages, and super sexy outfits.  Second, we have this take on a modern day Bonnie and Clyde, which I absolutely LOVE, but chances are I will be sans S this halloween as he will be traveling.  But let's be real, I'd prob still be Bonnie even if my Clyde is on vacay.  Finally we have the mid 90s moody goth girl with black lipstick, delicate jewelry, and fuck you attitude.  This would really just be my excuse for being nostalgic!
So what do you think?  I need opinions!

L-I-V-I-N

(via fanpop and wordpress)
Dazed and Confused is clearly one of my top five favorite movies of all time.  I've officially watched it twice in the last 24 hours, and I feel zero shame in this.  It makes me pine to have been a teenager in the 70s and ultimately ends up influencing my outfit choices for at least a week after I see it.  So you should prepare yourself for high waisted cutoffs and tube socks, and maybe I'll even whip out my "Seniors of 1974" sweatshirt.  Yup, that's right, I have the entire "senior bitches" outfit, and Miranda and I proudly donned them for halloween 2008!

So Fresh And So Clean

Mmmmmm, these pieces from Erin Fetherston's 2011 resort collection are just so yummy!  I love the clean lines and feminine fabrics, which make for a truly sexy silhouette.  The floor-length gown makes me want to go to prom all over again, although I'd much rather wear it over and over again instead of reserving it for a single, fleeting night!  And the moment I get a real grown up job I will be emulating that super skinny suit.

A Storm Story

La la la, just taking some outfit photos.
Uh oh....what's that sound?  Tornado sirens!
Looks like a storm's coming!
Here are some snapshots from yesterday when I was stuck in Bloomington due to the tornado!  Please excuse my lack of makeup and the absolute war zone that is my apartment room.  It is not being lived in over the summer so it is waaayyyy messy!
Sorry for the poor quality of these pictures!  They were taken with photo booth and my phone since I didn't have a camera with me.  And yes, I realize I am a huge dork for doing this, but I was determined to do an outfit post yesterday despite my lack of camera and the impending storm!  I want to send a big thank you to all of my lovely followers!  I so enjoy reading your comments and suggestions, it means the world to me!

Let's Talk Some Raw Love, Baby

I am utterly enamored with the photography of Harper Smith.  I don't even think I can explain it, but something about these pictures make me so happy.  Although based off of my pervious posts one can only assume that my love has something to do with his use of desert locations and glitter!
On another note, the Mumford and Sons show last night was amazing!  It was in this small bar in Bloomington and it was completely packed.  Unfortunately, I am stuck in my apartment in Bloomington for now because we are, at this very moment, in the middle of a tornado storm.  I know I should probably be seeking shelter but my bed is really cozy.

Farewell Fair One

blouse and armor ring: F21, shorts and shoes: charlotte russe, ruffle socks: target, bracelet: vintage
So here is the promised outfit post. I wore this to go to dinner with some girlfriends, and i love the ruffle socks!  But honestly, it is really hard to wear socks with open-toe heels, I was sliding all over the place.  My daddy took these lovely pictures, and I'm still getting the hang of posing and not being awkward in front of the camera, so just bear with me!
On another note, guess who I'm seeing in concert with S tomorrow........

Mumford and Sons!  I am so excited!  I hope you all had a wonderful weekend, I have loved receiving all of your comments!

Effortlessly Chic

(via Henrik Purienne)
Henrik Purienne's photos are some of my favorite!  Whether he's capturing effortlessly cool moments for Wildfox or shooting a fantastic editorial for Soko zine, the results are always natural and speak to my girliness.
I want to send a big thank you and welcome to all of my new readers!  I have been checking out your blogs, and I must say they have been a major source of inspiration!  Please feel free to share your suggestions on how I can make this blog better.  Come back tomorrow for a new outfit post!

It's Mystical

(via yayeveryday, ryan mcginley, tattoos, litter)
Aren't these photos just utterly enchanting?  As a self proclaimed Harry Potter dork, (ya, I know), that tattoo is absolutely fantastic!  The campfire reminds me of my summer nights at camp, or the bonfires we used to throw on friend's farms in high school.

My Arid Love

(via Soko zine issue 4)
This editorial from the fourth issue of Soko zine, shot by Manolo Campion, reminds me how much I love the desert.  I think my heart belongs there, where it's earthy and vast and my hair doesn't frizz.  Today it is rainy in my old Kentucky home, semi rainforest status.  Time to escape out west, perhaps?  It's a good thing I don't have to venture out into this muggy weather until late at night when I work, so I can curl up all day with my puppy!

D*I*Y stud pocket shorts!

The studded pocket shorts/pants have been all over the blogosphere as of late, so I decided to do my first DIY in honor of this wildly popular trend!
You'll need:
an old pair of shorts or pants
a pair of scissors
studs (amount needed will vary depending on the size of the pocket, but I ended up only using about 50)
needle nose pliers

Start by taking your scissors and cutting down one of the outside seams of your chosen back pocket, creating the flap that will expose the inside of the pocket.

Press studs into the exposed inner pocket.

Flip the shorts/pants inside out and make sure all prongs have penetrated the fabric.

To secure studs, push all prongs firmly down against fabric using needle nose pliers.  Make sure no studs remain sticking out to avoid painful poking.

Et voila! These are still a work in progress, as not all of the exposed inner pocket has been studded, but you can bet that once they are completed they will be a serious summer staple!
